How do I start my Pokémon Pikachu?
Pull out the battery tab on the right side of the Pokémon Pikachu to wake Pikachu up. If Pikachu doesn't wakeup, try replacing the battery.
If these steps do not help you, your system may need to be replaced.
Why is my screen blank?
The Pokémon Pikachu has a battery save feature that blanks out the screen when it's not in use (when the buttons aren't being pressed). The unit will still register watts while in this mode. To get Pikachu to reappear, press any button. If this does not solve the problem, try replacing the battery (CR2032).
If these steps do not help you, your system may need to be replaced.
Why doesn't my pedometer work? Pikachu isn't gaining any watts.
Make sure that Pikachu is securely placed in a vertical position on a part of your clothing that moves when you walk (such as a belt, waistband, or shoe). If he is sideways, the walking meter doesn't register steps. In addition, the pedometer stops registering after you've reached 999,999 steps. This can be corrected by resetting Pokémon Pikachu.
My Pokémon Pikachu is making weak sounds.
If the sounds become weak, replace the battery with a new one of the same type (CR2032). Note: When the battery dies, Pokémon Pikachu's saved data is lost.
If these steps do not help you, your system may need to be replaced.
My screen is dim.
If the screen is becoming dim, replace the battery with a new one of the same type (CR2032). Note: When the battery dies, Pokémon Pikachu's saved data is lost.
If these steps do not help you, your system may need to be replaced.
How do I replace the Battery?
- Loosen the black phillips head screw with a size 0 phillips tip screwdriver, remove the battery cover and the battery.
- Insert a new lithium battery (CR2032) with the + side facing up.

What if my Pokémon Pikachu gets wet?
- Remove the battery cover with a number 0 (ought) size phillips screwdriver from a jeweler's screwdriver set. These sets appear to be readily available at convenience stores.
- Remove the battery and shake the water out through the battery opening.
NOTE: If the Pokémon Pikachu was dropped in dirty water, rinse out the system by holding it under running water from a faucet. You would not want to spray disinfectant on the system but you can wipe the system with a disinfectant and re-rinse under running water. - Tap the corner of the Pokémon Pikachu by the battery opening to remove any residual water.
- With the battery cover and battery removed, let the system air-dry for 24 hours. DO NOT use a blow dryer.
- After the system is dry, replace the battery and battery cover. The Pokémon Pikachu should begin to work once again. All save information will be lost.
Note: After following these procedures, you may notice a slight amount of bubbling on the background of the screen. Should this happen, the only option is to replace the unit.
What else do I need to know about my Pokémon Pikachu?
- Do not disassemble or try to repair the Pokémon Pikachu. Doing so voids your warranty (Pokémon Pikachu comes with a 3-month warranty).
- Do not store the Pokémon Pikachu in a humid place, on the floor or in any location where it may collect dirt, dust, lint, etc.
- Do not drop, hit or otherwise abuse the Pokémon Pikachu.

- The LCD may be damaged by sharp objects or pressure. Take great care to protect the display from scratches or stains.
- Do not spill liquids on the Pokémon Pikachu. To clean, use a soft slightly damp cloth. Allow the Pokémon Pikachu to dry completely before using again. (Use water only.)
- For the best game image, look directly at the Pokémon Pikachu display from the front and operate only in good light.
